“Opalite” music video extended

the commentary
To time out neatly with both a Friday the 13th and Valentine’s Day, Taylor released two “extended” versions of the “Opalite” music video to streaming services. The approach tacks on a few minutes of behind-the-scenes footage from the project’s filming to the end of the video’s final cut.
In one of the scenes, Taylor delightedly appears on set in all black (the fastest way to my heart!) ready to learn choreography from Mandy Moore. It’s lovely to see Taylor continue to work with Moore following the Eras Tour. I think Moore really “gets” how Taylor moves.
Now, the fashion! This ensemble was a fast copy + paste for me. Washes of all black - yes and yes. Polished closet staples like a wool coat and turtleneck (plus I spied some washed grey trousers in other scenes) set off with gold accessories is an easy way to build an outfit. My eye loved flicking between the gold chain hardware on both her Chanel bag (a repeat we previously saw her carry during the Chiefs 2025-26 season) and what appears to be a new chain necklace with a pear-shaped diamond. The addition of the dad hat brings a casual element to the look. The phrase embroidered on the front feels cheeky!
Taylor’s hat is a preview of forthcoming Florence + The Machine merch! The text is a reference to a lyric from “One of the Greats”, a song off the recent Everybody Scream album. The hat isn’t yet available to purchase online, but is in person at F+TM shows on tour.
