Perhaps the most important takeaway from that Emmy’s skit was “the answer has been TV this whole time.” I kid, but really!

Last night, Taylor made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live to support her friend Dakota Johnson, who was hosting as part of the press tour for her latest film Verity. The timing was particularly serendipitous as Taylor’s cameo also landed on the one-year anniversary of The Life of a Showgirl album, whose deluxe re-release Dakota also helped promote through her co-starring role in the “Patient Zero” music video. The comedic cameo marks Taylor’s second television skit appearance in recent months, following her Emmy appearance in support of host Mariska Hargitay.

Here, Taylor’s SNL ensemble in a Simkhai dress and boots instantly made me think of autumn outfits. Plaid and an over-the-knee-boot, in my opinion, will always be a very good fall formula. It also reminded me of a very similarly silhouetted plaid Vivienne Westwood look from a Chiefs game a few seasons back also in early October 2024.

Taylor accessorized by adding a chain belt from YSL around her waist. When styling for television, dressing for the “frame” of the shot is always key. I thought the belt added a nice bit of shine in the primary camera angle for the appearance and tied in nicely with her gold Cartier bracelet - a favourite from her closet. The Burberry boots, which we saw in the fadeaway long shot, offered some rich warmth. It also made for her second Burberry piece in just days, having worn one of their burgundy polo sweaters to celebrate her U.K. #1 single with “Zero.”
