Out and About in New York City

She’s unstoppable! Following a whirlwind promotional weekend supporting The Life of a Showgirl, Taylor was photographed out in New York City.
I immediately recognized this particular plaid mini skirt. Why? You might recall she wore it in a different colourway while visiting a children’s hospital in Kansas City last year right before her birthday and accepting an award during the iHearts earlier this year. It taps in to one of Taylor’s classic style pillars of repetition and a “if I like it I’ll just buy it in a different colour” sentiment. The rest of her outfit follows a similar uniform for her of a tucked in top and neutrals to ground the pattern of the skirt as the real “statement” of the ‘fit.
The boots are by a new-to-her brand, the London-based designer Jennifer Chamandi. I find the cognac brown leather injects a hit of fall tones into the outfit. My favourite detail is that fine leather strap that loops through the heel. But I think a black pair also would have worked well. I think what would have made an even bigger connect would be a trench or light wool jacket, but based on the current actual temps in New York I can understand the decision to forego an additional layer.
