the commentary

Taylor was spotted out to dinner in NYC today in a sweet, springy ensemble that felt altogether familiar. Taylor has always been a lover of dresses - I’d say it’s one of the mainstays in her wardrobe from era to era. The length, silhouette, and colour scheme of that item might shift to meet the aesthetic of the time. Here, the midi length and sweet stripe pattern feel reminiscent of the prim vintage-leaning stylings of RED. Helped, of course, by that red lip!

A cognac bag to coordinate with her shoes might have been expected, but Taylor often goes for fun colour combinations in her street style ensembles. It’s also, excitedly, a reimagining of the iconic Lady Dior silhouette under the direction of Jonathan Anderson, Dior’s new creative director. His take on the Lady Dior here pays homage to two longstanding nature motifs from the house of Dior: florals and the bee. The effect of both here served with a pop of yellow feels appropriately springlike.

In addition to her engagement ring, we have some new and old jewelry from Taylor in her stack. Her hoops are a pair we previously saw her wear to a Chiefs game back in 2024.

Taylor has had a longstanding penchant for opal jewelry. The fire in the stone feels warm and antique-like. Of course, it’s taken on a whole new sentimental meaning post-“Opalite”! Based on the hinges and ovular design, it looks like it could be this bracelet and coordinating ring by Darlene de Sedle. If so, that would also very neatly combine two The Life of a Showgirl singles into one as this particular suite was created for none other than … Elizabeth Taylor. The treasures sold as a suite back in 2011 at a Christie’s Auction. Taylor getting her hands on it would be something pretty spectacular!

And yes, my eyes are out for this necklace — which appears to be a horseshoe-like charm.
